FOUR Basingstoke athletes were honoured at a recent awards ceremony at Winchester Guildhall.
Josh Goodall won the Hampshire Schools Sports Federation tennis award. The 17-year-old former Cranbourne schoolboy reached the last 16 at Junior Wimbledon and the semi-finals of the under-18 nationals.
He also represented England under-17s in the Four Nations championships.
He received his Michael Austin Harlick award from Commonwealth Games 1,500-metres gold medallist Michael East.
The athletics award went to Christina Carding, a member of Basingstoke and Mid-Hants AC.
The 15-year-old Lord Wandsworth College pupil has been English Schools discus champion for three years running and took the silver medal at the home international.
Queen Mary's College pupil Fiona Holdcroft took the award for hockey. The 17-year-old has progressed from the under-16 to the under-18 England squad.
England under-18 rugby player Tom Rees was the runner-up for the Michael May Trophy, awarded for the best single achievement in any sport. The Basingstoke rugby club member played for England Schools under-18s against Australia at Twickenham last January.
